The New Year's Bash is a must-see event to kick off the racing season in the southeast, headlined by the $2,500 Street Stock Nationals. Ahead of this weekend's Street Stock Bash, here are 10 Things to Know about the event.

New Year's Bash at Dillon Motor Speedway (Jan. 8-9)

1 - Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, South Carolina will be the backdrop for this race. The fourth-tenths of a mile track has created a lot of great Street Stock action in the past few years.

2 - The winner will pocket $2,500 dollars for winning the New Years Bash.

3 - Watch for the paint schemes in this race, guys like Bobbie Tumbleston, Boo Carisle and many others have put lots of effort into their rides to look as throwback as the styles of cars they race.

4 - Bobbie Tumbleston has to be considered one of the favorites after winning the race last year and the Fall Street Stock race as well. Tumbleston won four times in 2021 at Dillon and looks to score another big win.

5 - When you think big winners at Dillon in this race, then you can’t overlook Gary Ledbetter, Jr. He has five wins in the event and many more at Dillon. So keep an eye on him as well.

6 - Along with his two wins in this race, Ricky Locklair, Jr. has three second-place runs all in the last seven runnings. He also has a fourth-place finish to give him six top-five runs in the race since 2015. He should be a factor.

7 - This race is traditionally a part of the Mid-Atlantic Street Stock Championship Series. Gary Ledbetter is the three-time defending champion of the series. He has 19 career wins.

8 - 20 of the 31 cars completed at least 108 of the 111 laps in last year's race, with the top nine finishing on the lead lap.

9 - The money will be on the line for the local shows as well, with the Challenger AR Bash getting $1000 for their 50-lap race on Saturday. The Bangers will race for $200 and the Walls Roofing FWD UCAR CLASH/Pure Stock have a 30-lapper for $500 to win on Saturday. The Carolina Mini Stocks will race for 60 laps for $700 on Sunday as the Legend Cars get $300 for their Sunday race too.
